The Rev. David Sealey officiated. Mrs. Cox, 73, died Friday, May 11, 2001, at her residence. Born in Charlotte on April 22, 1928, Mrs. Cox was a daughter of the late Blair Belk and Josie Sherrill Belk. A graduate of Central High School in Charlotte, she was a self-employed wall paper hanger and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include her husband, Joe D. Cox of Chester; two sons, Horace Eugene “Gene” Cox of Chester and Rock Cox Lane of Sunrise, Fla.; a daughter, Joey Conner of Athens, Ga.; a brother, Howard Belk of Torrence, Calif.; and five grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Hospice of York County, 325 South Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.
