Residence, North Charleston, S.C. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Carl R. Welborn are invited to attend the funeral services of the former in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTH AREA CHAPEL, Saturday, May 19, 2001, at 2 o'clock. Interment will follow in Riverview Memorial Park. Friends may call at Stuhr's North Area Chapel, 2119 Dorchester Road, this Friday evening from 6 until 8 o'clock with a Masonic Service at 7 o'clock. Born December 20, 1920, in Greenville, S.C., Mr. Welborn was the son of Robert "Capt. Bob" Welborn and Leona Hightower Welborn. He was retired from SCE&G Company where he was employed as a fuel handling supervisor and after his retirement, he was the maintenance manager at SUPSHIPS. He was a charter member of Holmes Avenue Baptist Church. Mr. Welborn served in the U.S. Army Infantry during World War II and was a member of Hammerton Lodge #332. Mr. Welborn is survived by his wife, Nancy B. Welborn of N. Charleston; a son, Merritt J. Worley of Hanahan; a daughter, Mary Sweeney of N. Charleston; a sister, Helen Howard of Greenville, S.C.; five grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
