TITLE: Robert Tullie Thompson SOURCE: The Post and Courier, June 25, 2001 SUBMITTED: The Post and Courier FORMATTED: Kim Grissom, June 2001 *********************************************************************************************** Mr. Robert Tullie Thompson, 75 years of age, of 6818 Wire Road, Branchville, died at his home on June 24, 2001. Mr. Thompson was born near Branchville, a son of the late Richard Jesse Thompson and Mamie Crook Thompson. He was a graduate of Branchville High School, served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater, he was a recipient of the Bronze Star, and he also took part in the liberation of prisoners and the occupation of Germany following VE Day. Mr. Thompson was a faithful member of Prospect Southern Methodist Church, and a member of the Senior Adult Class. He was a Mason, a farmer by occupation, and a trustee of the Cattle Creek Campground. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, June 26, at 4 p.m., at the Prospect Southern Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry Sprague, Rev. Robert Ethridge, and the Rev. Jerry Craig Thompson, with interment in the Thompson Cemetery, Rigby Road, Branchville. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m., Monday, June 25, at the OTT FUNERAL HOME IN BRANCHVILLE. Pallbearers will be Samuel Alva Murray, Donald Edwin Kirven, Sr., Dr. Robert Allen Varn, Gerald Atmar Thompson, Jr., Toby Wayne Dukes, Albert Thompson, Jr., James Lewis, and Tommy Wolfe. Honorary pallbearers will be the surviving members of the Eastern Carolina Baseball League Conference, and the T&M Hunting Club. Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Emma Eaddy Thompson of Branchville, two daughters, Mrs. Kathy Thompson Beeks, and Mrs. Sharon Thompson Pinckney, both of Branchville, three brothers, Mr. Richard Ernest Thompson, Mr. Samuel Heyward Thompson, and Mr. Gerald Atmar Thompson, Sr., all of Branchville, two sisters, Mrs. Grady (Emma Mae) Calvin Murray, Sr., of Grover, and Mrs. Gaynell Thompson Cannon of Columbia, a foster sister, Mrs. Julian (Mildred) Baker of Harleyville, six grandchildren, Ethan Robert Beeks, Rachel Timms Billbrough, David Thompson Pinckney, Julianna Kathleen Beeks, Nicholas Jarvis Pinckney, Jr., and Melissa Pinckney Wiles, two great grandsons, 14 nieces and nephews, a number of great nieces and nephews, and a host of cousins and friends.
