TITLE: Minnie Pernell Ruffin SOURCE: The New and Reporter, June 20, 2001 SUBMITTED: The News and Reporter FORMATTED: Kim Grissom, June 2001 *********************************************************************** Mrs. Minnie Pernell Ruffin, 90 BLACKSTOCK – The funeral for Mrs. Minnie Pernell Mobley Ruffin of Magnolia Manor, Rock Hill, formerly of Cork Road, Blackstock, will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 20 at Mount Tabor Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Blackstock with the Rev. Dr. W.T. Holmes officiating Mrs. Ruffin, 90, died Saturday, June 16, 2001 at a nursing center. Born in Blackstock on January 8, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Ruben Mobley and the late Sarah Cork Mobley. She was the widow of the late John Ruffin. She was a retired librarian from Harlem School of Nursing in New York. She was a member of Mount Tabor Presbyterian Church in Blackstock and attended St. Augustine Presbyterian Church while living in New York. Mrs. Ruffin attended Russell Elementary School in Blackstock and Hanes Institute of Augusta, Ga. She received a master’s degree from Columbia University and Vermont University. She taught school in Blacksville, S.C. Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Marie Mobley Gladden of Blackstock; a devoted niece, Mrs. Sarah Davis Long of Alabama; and a nephew, Sammie Davis of Illinois.
