"Pat" Mathis, husband of Virginia Brown Mathis. Residence, Hanahan, S.C. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin F. "Pat" Mathis are invited to attend the funeral services of the former in Northwood Assembly, Friday morning, June 8, 2001, at 11:30 o'clock. Interment, Carolina Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., GREENRIDGE ROAD CHAPEL, this (Thursday) evening between 7 and 9 o'clock. Mr. Mathis was born May 22, 1927, in Douglas, Ga., the son of Henry Edward Mathis and Frances Alda Walker Mathis. He was a member of Northwood Assembly Church. He was a United States Navy Veteran serving in World War II on the USS South Dakota and a retired Supply Department Supervisor wit Polaris Missile Facility Atlantic. He also was a member of Satilla Masonic Lodge No. 163, Pearson, Ga., and the Sons of the Confederate Veterans. He is survived by his wife of Hanahan, S.C.; one son, Brian H. Mathis of Summerville, S.C.; one sister, Iris Coraleene McDaniel of Hanahan, S.C., and a half-sister, Minnie Lou Yeary of Ocilla, Ga. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northwood Assembly, 8717 Rivers Ave., North Charleston, S.C. 29406, or the American Cancer Society, 5900 Core Road, Suite 504, North Charleston, S.C. 29406.
