Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be announced by PEEPLES-RHODEN FUNERAL HOME in Hampton. (The Post and Courier June 8, 2001) Mrs. Laura Frances Hughey McMillan, 65 of Sandy Run Road near Brunson, died early Thursday morning in a local medical center in Hampton after an extended illness. Mrs. McMillan was born in Varnville (Hampton County) September 18, 1935, a daughter of the late Jim Newton and Lillie DeLoach Hughey. She had formerly been employed with Westinghouse Corp., in Hampton where she was a Union Stewart with Local No.31-30. She was a member of the Seed and Weed Garden Club, and had been a Volunteer Emergency Medical Technician. She had been a faithful worker with her husband on the family farm for many years. Surviving are: Her husband: Clarence McMillan, Sr., of Brunson, two sons and daughter-in-laws, Newton and ``Robin''McMillan of Brunson, C. and ``Martha'' McMillan of Hilton Head; four sisters, Viola Benton and Maude McMillan, both of Brunson, Eva Jarrell of Nixville, and Vera ``Boots'' Crosby of Lexington, three grandchildren: Johnathan, Morgan and Kattie. Funeral service will be held 10 AM., Saturday in the Sandy Run Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Paul Reid, with burial in the Sandy Run Cemetery directed by PEEPLES-RHODEN FUNERAL HOME in Hampton. Friends may call at the Chapel in Hampton from 6 to 9 p.m., Friday, and Saturday morning until 9 A.M., when the casket will be placed in the church prior to service. The family suggests that those who wish may send memorials to the Sandy Run Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 252, Hampton, S.C. 29924-0296.
