The family will receive friends at the home. DUNBAR FUNERAL HOME, Devine Street Chapel, is in charge. Mrs. Holmes, wife of the late Dr. Charles Rutledge Holmes, died Thursday, June 14, 2001. Born in Bainbridge, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Guy and Lucile Connor Overstreet. A graduate of USC, she was a member of the Colonial Dames, Huguenot Society, Holly Garden Club and Forest Lake Country Club. Mrs. Holmes was a member of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral and served on the Altar Guild. Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, Charles Rutledge Holmes, Jr., and Karen Watson of Sumter, Christopher McGowan and Beth Graham Holmes of Charleston, and Thomas Connor and Florence Callaway Holmes of Atlanta, Ga.; daughters and sons-in-law, Lucy Holmes Little and Thomas J. Little, Jr., of Columbia and Melissa Holmes and James Thomas White of Sumter; sister, Helen Sharpe Overstreet of Sapphire, N.C.; ten grandchildren. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Hugh Hammond Dubose, Sam Beard King, Jr., James Gadsden Holmes, Ben Rankin Morris and Thomas Belton Boyle. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, Palmetto Health Hospice or to a charity of one's choice.
