Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, at St. Matthews Episcopal Church. Interment will follow in Grove Hill Cemetery directed by BELK FUNERAL HOME. Mr. Blackmon was born in Darlington County the son of the late Royce E., Sr., and Mattie Brown Blackmon. He retired in 1974 after having served his country for 27 years in the U.S. Navy where he served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Blackmon was employed by the Security Forces at Wellman Industries and was a member of St. Matthews Episcopal Church. Surviving are his wife, Betty Lou Morris Blackmon of the home; three brothers, Royce E. Blackmon, Jr., of Tennessee, and Heyward (Ada) Blackmon and Charles (Judy) Blackmon, both of Darlington; one sister, Mrs. Lee (Gerry B.) Rector of Key Largo, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Matthews Episcopal Church Building Fund, 210 South Main St., Darlington, S.C. 29532, or to Hospice of the Pee Dee, 555 E. Cheves St., Darlington, S.C. 29506.
