TITLE: Maxwell Harter SOURCE: The Post and Courier, June 22, 2001 SUBMITTED: The Post and Courier FORMATTED: Kim Grissom, June 2001 *********************************************************************************************** Mr. Maxwell "Mac" Harter, Sr., widower of the late Elizabeth "Betsy" Harter, died Wednesday morning at the residence. He was born in Allendale County on March 2, 1925, a son of the late Edward W. Harter and Ethel I. Harter. He was a W.W.II veteran and a member of the Bethel Baptist Church. He was 76. Surviving are three sons, Maxwell Harter, Jr ., Danny Harter, and Tommy Harter, all of Fairfax; one daughter, Bonnie H. Meyer, of Fairfax; one brother, William "Bill" Harter of Fairfax; five sisters, Shirley Lyons of Washington, Pa., Irene Ingram of Auburndale, Fla., Terry Ayer, Sandra Driggers, and Kathryn Carter, all of Fairfax. There are four grandchildren and three step-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Smith-Rhoden Funeral Home; with burial following in the Harter Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. SMITH-RHODEN FUNERAL HOME OF ALLENDALE is in charge of arrangements.
