The relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral services at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., GREENRIDGE ROAD CHAPEL, Thursday morning, June 28, 2001, at 11 o'clock with American Legion Honors following. Entombment will be at a later date in Plantation Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at Stuhr's Greenridge Road Chapel this (Wednesday) evening from 6 until 8 o'clock. Mr. Hammer was born in Elkton, Va., on May 21, 1927, the son of Maynard Bishop Hammer and Valley Monger Hammer. He was a 20-year veteran with the U.S. Navy, having served in W.W.II, the Korean Conflict and Viet Nam War. His decorations include the Navy Occupation Medal (European Clasp), the W.W.II Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and Viet Nam Service Medal. Surviving is a daughter, Karen H. Stanfield of Goose Creek, S.C., a sister, Alice Jane Houff of Weyers Cave, Va., and two grandsons, Kevin C. Stanfield, Jr., and Brandon S. Stanfield, both of Goose Creek, S.C. Flowers will be accepted and memorials may be made to American Legion Post #147, Honor Guard Unit, 968 Folly Road, James Island, S.C. 29412.
