TITLE: Gerald Hope Grant SOURCE: The New and Reporter, June 27, 2001 SUBMITTED: The News and Reporter FORMATTED: Kim Grissom, June 2001 *********************************************************************** Mr. Gerald Hope Grant, 73 CHESTER – The funeral for Mr. Gerald Hope Grant of 1986 New Hope Church Road was conducted at 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2001, at Calvary Baptist Church. The Rev. David Sealy, the Rev. Bob Craven and the Rev. Chris Snelgrove officiated and burial followed in Chester Memorial Gardens. Mr. Grant, 73, died Sunday, June 24, 2001, at Providence Hospital in Columbia. Born in Lockhart on Oct. 20, 1927, he was a son of the late James Ainsley Grant and the late Ethel Mae Gilliam Grant. He attended Chester County schools and was a retired signal foreman with Seaboard Coastline Railroad. He was also a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army and Merchant Marines. Survivors include three sons, Jackie L. Grant, Mark R. Grant and Timothy H. Grant, all of Chester; two sisters, Elizabeth Grant Simpson of Atlanta, Ga. and Barbara Grant Gearhart of Greenville; four grandchildren, Julie Grant, Shannon Grant, James Grant and Martha Rose Grant. He was preceded in death by his wife , Nell Leggett Grant, and a son, Gerald H. Grant Jr. Memorials may be made to the National Necrotizing Fasciitis Foundation, 2731 Porter SW, Grand Rapids, MI, 49509 or to Calvary Baptist Church, 610 Calvary Church Road, Chester, S.C. 29706 or to West Chester Baptist Church, 1898 Pinckney Road, Chester, S.C. 29706.
