Young Funeral home of Yemassee is in charge. Carolyn Garvin BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Carolyn Garvin, 58, died Friday, June 22, 2001, in Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Young Funeral Home, Yemassee. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Wilkerson Baptist Church, Early Branch. Ms. Garvin was born Aug. 18, 1942, in Hampton County, a daughter of Lueveania Wright Garvin and Rufus Hamilton. At an early age, she moved to Elizabeth, N.J., and later Brooklyn, where she lived approximately 40 years. She attended former North District Training School, Varnville , and College of New Rochelle, receiving a bachelor of arts degree in early childhood development. She was employed with Drake's Bakery, Metro Technology and most recently, Faith, Hope and Charity Day Care Center No. 1. She was a charter member of Greater Faith Community Baptist, Brooklyn, where she served in the youth department. Surviving are her mother of Early Branch; two daughters, Eleanor J.G. Fennell of Lithonia, Ga., and Shanta M. Haynesworth of Columbia; three sisters, Albertha Garvin and the Rev. Ruby Garvin of Early Branch, and Wendy Shivers of Irvington, N.J.; and four grandsons.
