Viewing will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today in M.F. Riley Funeral Home, Fairfax. There will be no wake service. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in St. James AME Church, Fairfax. Mrs. Gadson was born Feb. 20, 1945, in Allendale County, a daughter of William Gregory Sr. and Ollie Mae Badger Gregory. She was a member of St. James AME Church, Fairfax. She attended the Allendale County public schools. Surviving are her husband, Benjamin Gadson Sr. of Fairfax; four daughters, Beverly Miller of Colonial Heights, Va., Darlene Ledwell of Easton, Pa., Christina Gadson of Allendale and Pretrena Gadson of Martin; a son, Benjamin Gadson Jr. of Fairfax; four stepchildren, Mark Holmes, Dwayne Gadson, Michelle Gadson and Kimberly Boddie; a sister, Lizzie Antley of Lobeco; three brothers, William Gregory Jr. of Miami, Fla., John and Ernest Gregory of Fairfax; 11 grandchildren. Doris Maes Madlinger, 71, of Beaufort, widow of George Madlinger Jr., died Sunday, June 17, 2001, at her residence. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, with a memorial prayer service at 7 p.m., at Copeland Funeral Home. A Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Peter's Catholic Church with burial in Beaufort National Cemetery. Mrs. Madlinger was born June 25, 1929, in Paterson, N.J., a daughter of Henri Jules Maes and Anna Irene Schwarz Maes. She was a graduate of Benedictine Academy, Paterson and received her bachelor of arts degree from the School of Arts and Science at the College of New Rochelle in 1951. She attended graduate school at New York University and was then employed as a linens buyer for Lord and Taylor, New York City. She worked at Employment Services of Clemson. She was an active member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. She was a member of Beaufort Concert Association; served as treasurer and bookkeeper for Beaufort Yacht & Sailing Club, where she co-founded the Junior Activity Program and was the recipient of the Commodore's Service Award. She was a member of the Broad River Garden Club, Ladies Unlimited Investment Club and a longtime member of the Wednesday Coffee Club. She was past president of the Catholic Women's Club and was the 1977 "Catholic Woman of the Year" at St. Peter's Catholic Church. She was instrumental in the religious education program at St. Peter's and served as a Eucharist Minister, a member of the finance Committee for 18 years and was a participant in the Perpetual Adoration Society at the chapel on Carteret Street. She was preceded in death by a son, Mark Andrew Madlinger. Surviving are three daughters, Kathleen M. Dempsey of Beaufort, Barbara M. Cooper of Saudi Arabia and Susan M. Faulds of Mount Pleasant; two sons, George J.
