TITLE: Curtis Floyd SOURCE: The Post and Courier, June 5, 2001 SUBMITTED: The Post and Courier FORMATTED: Kim Grissom, June 2001 *********************************************************************************************** FLOYD, Curtis MARION, S.C. - Mr. Curtis Westberry Floyd, 74, husband of June Hennecy Floyd, died Sunday, June 3, 2001, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 6, at Marion Baptist Church, with Rev. Daniel Inabinet and Dr. Floyd Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, directed by SMITH-COLLINS FUNERAL HOME. Mr. Floyd was born October 9, 1926, in Horry County, a son of the late Joseph Curtis Floyd and the late Vivian Vaught Floyd. Mr. Floyd retired in 1998 as Area Director of the South Carolina Employment Security Commission after 36 years of service. He was an U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II. Mr. Floyd was a former President of the Marion Civitan Club and a member of American Legion Post #5. He was a member of the International Association of Personnel and Employment Security, the S.C. State Employees Association and the AARP. He was a graduate of Marion High School. Mr. Floyd was a member of the Marion Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class and had served at various times as Chairman of Deacons, Sunday School Superintendent and Sunday School teacher. Surviving Mr. Floyd in addition to his wife of the home are, his children, Curtis E. Floyd of Mechanicsville, Va., Sylvia Floyd Fowler of Chapin and Linda P. Floyd of Columbia; his grandchildren, Kay Floyd, Sarah Floyd, and Connor Floyd, all of Virginia, and Jonathan Fowler, Joy Fowler, and David Fowler, all of Chapin; his sisters, Doris Floyd Booth of Hartsville and Myra Floyd Parker of Marion; and his brother, Frank M. Floyd of Mt. Pleasant. Mr. Floyd was predeceased by two sisters, Salivee Floyd Port and Theatus Vivian Floyd and two brothers, H.B. Floyd and A.W. Floyd. Memorials may be made to the Marion Baptist Church, P.O. Box 3, Marion, S.C. 29571. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m., at SMITH-COLLINS FUNERAL HOME.
