She was a graduate of the 1961 class of Mullins High School. She received a bachelor of arts degree in music from Coker College and master of arts degree in music from the University of S.C. She was one of the founders of the Sumter Civic Chorale and has served as accompanist through the years. She has served as the organist and choir director for St. James Lutheran Church for the past 11 years. At the age of 15, she began playing the piano or organ for churches and various organizations in Marion County. She taught elementary music in Sumter School District 17 for many years. She also taught private piano lessons at her home for a number of years. She was a member of various organizations, Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, Lota Chapter; the Woman's Afternoon Music Club of Sumter, in which she served as president; the South Carolina Music Educators Association; the Music Educators National Conference, the American Guild of Organists. Surviving are, two daughters, Kathy Floyd Goodwin and husband, Mike of Columbia, S.C., and Kim Floyd McGinnis and husband, David of Sumter, S.C.; two sisters, Cecelia Dew Brown and husband, Tom of Hartsville, S.C., and Jimmy Lynn Dew Page and husband, L.M. of Mullins, S.C.; four granddaughters, Lindsey Dew McGinnis, Rebecca Lee McGinnis, Katherine Austin Floyd and Miranda Leigh Goodwin, her fiance, Col. (Retired) William "Bo" F. Marshall of Sumter, S.C., also, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 17, 2001, at St. James Lutheran Church of Sumter, S.C., with the Rev. Tony Metze officiating. A graveside service will be at 5 p.m., Sunday, June 17, 2001, in Cedardale Cemetery in Mullins, S.C. Pallbearers will be Cullen Bryant, Harold Bryant, Mike Griffie, Buddy Martin, S.B. Nichols and Jimmy Goodyear. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, June 16, 2001, at Bullock Funeral Home and at other times at her residence in Sumter.
