Felder, Jr., age 69, of 7420 Charleston Highway, Bowman, S.C., died Sunday in the Medical University of S.C., Charleston , after an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m., Tuesday, in the Bowman Southern Methodist Church with rev. Gary Briden and Rev. Raymond Coffey officiating. Burial will follow in the Bowman Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 til 8 p.m., Monday, at BRYANT FUNERAL HOME, ST. GEORGE, S.C. Pallbearers will be Alex Felder and Clark Felder, Mike Dixon and Steve Dixon, Vandy Stephens, Landy Weathers, Hal Arant, and Rogers Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Todd Arant, Steve Weathers, Lawrence Weathers, Larry Patrick, Bryan Patrick, Cecil Jordan, Paul Cantley, Leon West, Ted McGill. Mr. Felder was born July 4, 1931, in Bowman, a son of the late Archie L. Felder, Sr., and Bertha Geiger Felder. He was a graduate of Bowman High School and attended Clemson College. He served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was founder of A.L. Felder Farms, Inc., A.L. Felder Trucking, and Felder's Barbecue. He was named Young Farmer of the Year in 1964 by S.C. Young Farmers Association, in 1998 his family was named Master Dairy Farm Family of the Year by S.C. Dairy Association. In 2000 , the Bowman Academy named the historic and newly renovated gymnasium the A.L. Felder, Jr., Gymnasium in his honor. He was a member and past Chairman of Board of Stewards at Bowman Southern Methodist Church, American Legion Post #64, Bowman Masonic, Lodge, Bowman Young Farms Chaper and Orangeburg County Farm Bureau. Surviving are, his wife, Truitte Hughes Felder, two sons, Archie L. (Susan) Felder, John M. (Bobbie) Felder, a daughter, Susan F. (Timmy) Judy, all of Bowman, a sister, Maude F. Coffey, Marstons Mill, Mass., six grands, Alex, Clark, Lynn, and Brad Felder, Morgan and Meg Judy, all of Bowman.
