Reed, Jr., 55, of Goose Creek, husband of Anne N. Reed, died Wednesday morning at his residence. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 9, 2001, at 1 o'clock in Maranatha Baptist Church, Moncks Corner. Burial will be in Live Oak Memorial Gardens, Charleston. Officiating will be Rev. Bruce C. Scott and Rev. Robert Rivers of Salem Baptist Church. Friends may call Friday evening, June 8, 2001, from 6 until 8 o'clock at James A. Dyal Funeral Home, Summerville. Born on October 24, 1945, in Goergetown, S.C., a son of the late David Morton Reed, Sr., and Elizabeth Lee Newton Reed. He was a graduate of Harleyville-Ridgeville High School. He coached for 22 years with Goose Creek Parks and Recreation football, basketball, baseball and boxing programs. He dedicated his life to the service of youth in his community and to Christ. He was a retired rigger with the Charleston Naval Shipyard. He was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church, Moncks Corner. Surviving are, wife, Anne N. Reed of Goose Creek; two sons, David Reed of Goose Creek, Danny Reed of Moncks Corner; daughter, Lisa Reed of Goose Creek; step-daughter, Dee Wright of Moncks Corner; two step-sons, Clarence Beich of Summerville, Karl Beich of Moncks Corner; five brothers, Arthur Reed of Andrews, Edward Reed of Honduras, Central America, Kenneth Reed of Lexington, James Reed of North Charleston, Richard Reed of Lake Lure, N.C.; one sister, Susan Martin of Georgetown; seven nephews and nine nieces; six grandchildren.
