TITLE: Mildred Claire Camlin Davis SOURCE: The Post and Courier, June 20, 2001 SUBMITTED: The Post and Courier FORMATTED: Kim Grissom, June 2001 *********************************************************************************************** WEST COLUMBIA - Services for Mildred Claire Camlin Davis, 83, of West Columbia, will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, in Trinity United Methodist Church, 1132 Gunter Circle, West Columbia, conducted by Reverend David Day, with burial at Woodridge Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, at THOMPSON FUNERAL HOME OF WEST COLUMBIA, 200 State Street. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that contributions be made to Trinity United Methodist Church Building Fund, the Arthritis Foundation, or the American Heart Association. Mrs. Davis, widow of the late Kenneth Logan Davis, Sr., passed away Sunday, June 17, 2001, at Lexington Medical Center Extended Care. Born on January 27, 1918, in Andrews, S.C., she was a daughter of the late George W. and Edith Haselden Camlin. Mrs. Davis was a local resident for 50 years and resided at 1001 Mohawk Drive in West Columbia. Mrs. Davis, a graduate of Draughon's Business School, served as a department store buyer for a brief period prior to becoming a homemaker. A charter member of Trinity United Methodist Church in West Columbia, she served in administrative roles in church school education. She was also a member of the first Women's Auxiliary group, serving as a volunteer for the Lexington County Hospital when it was established in the 1960's, and a Cub Scout Den Mother for many years. She was predeceased by her husband, six brother, and two sisters. Surviving are her sister, Edith Cox of Cary, N.C.; her children, Kenneth L. Davis of Leesville, James Randall Davis of Lexington, and Susan Davis Darby of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and her grandchildren, Randall Davis, Ken Davis, Julie Davis, Elizabeth Davis, and Claire Darby.
