Challenger CHESTER – Memorial services for Mrs. Clara E. Challenger of 815 Pleasant Grove Road will be conducted at 3 p.m. today, Wednesday, June 27, 2001, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Sylvester Mayfield will deliver the discourse and burial will follow in Benson Cemetery, Old York Road. Mrs. Challeger died Saturday, June 23, 2001, at Chester County Hospital. Born in Pittsburgh, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Gertrude Johnson Thompson and the late Melvin Thompson. She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on April 1, 1948. Survivors include two sons, Ormando Challenger of Brooklyn, N.Y. and Paul Charles Challenger of Chester; three daughters, Lenora Challenger, Claudia Rouse and Shirley Febin, all of Chester; a brother, Paul Thompson of Bronx, N.Y.; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Buchanan Challenger. The family will receive friends at the home.
