HENRY STUHR, INC., MT. PLEASANT CHAPEL. (The Post and Courier June 10, 2001) Claud Timmons Hackney, MD, 51 of Sullivan's Island, SC died Saturday afternoon in a local hospital. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, June 13, 2001 in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel at 6:00 o'clock. Dr. Hackney was born in Atlanta on December 3, 1949, a son of J. Henry Hackney and Lisabeth Mosely Hackney of Cooper Hall. He received his medical degree from Emory University in Atlanta, GA., I 1974 and did Post Graduate work at the Medical University of South Carolina. He was on the faculty as an Instructor of Medicine from 1975-1976 and 1979-1981. Dr. Hackney was awarded a Fellowship at Emory University I 1978. He was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. Dr. Hackney was the founder of the first free standing emergency clinic in Charleston from 1981 to present time. During the past fifteen years, Dr. Hackney has been practicing physician with Mount Pleasant Internal Medicine. He has been on active staff at East Cooper Hospital since 1986. He was chief of Medical Staff from 1993-1995 and served on the Board of Directors from 1993-1998. Dr. Hackney was Chairman of the Board during 1995. He was presently President of Bestcare Physician's Services and Medical Director of Bestcare Laboratory. Dr. Hackney was also an avid outdoorsman. He was a member of the CoastalCyclists Racing Team placing second in the State in his age group in the past. He also loves to fish in the creek catching and releasing fish. Survivig are his wife, Jody Thomas-Hackney of Sullivan's Island and a daughter Christine Siri Thomas. Also surviving are his parents, J. Henry Hackney and Lisabeth Hackney of Cooper Hall, a sister, Betsy Hackney Holmanand, brother-in-law, John C. Holman of Albany, GA, and two nephews Clint and Will Holman.
