Canty, 57 ROCK HILL A graveside service for Mr. Alva B. Canty of 3221 Lesslie Highway was conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 2001, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints - Catawba Ward Cemetery. The Rev. Charles LaFoy officiated. Mr. Canty, 57, died Wednesday, June 20, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center. A son of the late Henry Isaac Canty and Artie George Canty, he was a retiree of Flowe’s Construction Co. in Charlotte and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Catawba Ward. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Reynolds of Lando; four brothers, James Canty of Chester, Bobby Canty of Lyman, S.C., and Leonard Canty and Marion Canty, both of Rock Hill; four sisters, Stella Stokes, Nellie Gunn, Teresa Canty and Emiley Rabon, all of Rock Hill; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his companion, Rosa Lowery of Rock Hill.
