Buse, husband of Dr. Maria Gordon Buse, residence, Charleston, S.C. The relatives and friends of Dr. and Dr. John F. Buse are invited to attend the funeral services of the former, Wednesday, June 20, 2001, at 2 o'clock in St. Lukes Chapel, MUSC Campus. Interment, private. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL. Dr. Buse was born October 17, 1921, in Charleston, S.C., the son of John F. Buse and Irene Berry Buse. He was a member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church. He graduated from the University of S.C., served in the U.S. Navy during W.W.II, returned to Charleston and graduated from the Medical University of S.C. He spent a year at the University of Virginia and two years at the University of Pennsylvania in fellowship training. He returned to Charleston in 1956 as the first specialty trained endocrinologist in the state to establish the first division of endocrinology at MUSC. He served as president of the S.C. Chapter of the American Diabetes Association. He is survived by his wife of Charleston; one daughter, Elizabeth B. King of Atlanta, Ga.; two sons, John B. Buse, M.D. Ph.D., of Chapel Hill, N.C., and Paul E. Buse, M.D., of St. Louis, Mo., and eight grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Dr. John F.
