Alma Malphrus Broxton
RIDGELAND - Alma Mock Malphrus Broxton, 97, of Ridgeland, widow of 
James H. Broxton and Cary W. Malphrus Sr., died Tuesday, June 12, 2001,
at Beaufort Memorial Hospital. The family will receive visitors from 
6 to 8 p.m. today at Sauls Funeral Home, Ridgeland. Services will be 
held at 5 p.m. Friday at Great Swamp Baptist Church, Ridgeland, with 
burial in Great Swamp Cemetery. Mrs. Broxton was born Feb. 1, 1904 in 
Hampton County, a daughter of John and Annie Ward Mock. She was a 
homemaker and retired from Holiday Wear Manufacturing Co. She was a 
member of Great Swamp Baptist Church. Surviving are two sons, C.W. 
Malphrus Jr. of Ridgeland and Burton L. Malphrus of Hartsville; a 
daughter, Shirley M. Long of Ridgeland; three sisters, Annie M. Ryan 
of Ridgeland, Hallie M. Getty of Savannah and Gertie M. Ray of Dallas, 
Texas; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
