A native of Gaston County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Hope and Carrie Lee Craig Wilson. She was the wife of the late Paul Henry Maiers, Sr. She was a retired teacher and a homemaker, and a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she was active with the Presbyterian Women. Mrs. Maiers is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Paul Henry, Jr., and Dot Maiers of Charleston; two daughters and a son-in-law, Carolyn Maiers and Patricia M. and Harry "Buck" Glenn, both of Gastonia; four grandchildren and spouses, Brad Maiers, Charleston; Ashley Maiers, Charlotte; Jeff and Teresa Glenn, Troy, Leigh Anne and Mark Haas of Birmingham, Ala.; five great grandchildren, Rachel Anne Glenn, Clare Elizabeth Glenn, Martha Rose Glenn, Glenn Charlotte Haas, Catherine Anne Haas, and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Jenny Lee Wilson, Lois Clemmer, Nell Newell, and Elizabeth Stowe; and five brothers, Clyde, Thomas, Drew, Craig, and Walter Wilson. Graveside services for Mrs. Maiers will be conducted by Dr. David Stoker and Reverend Wilson Rhotan on Sunday, June 10, 2001, at 2:30 at Union Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends for 30 minutes preceding the service at the cemetery and at other times will be at the home of Patricia and Harry Glenn, 136 Patrick Road. Serving as pallbearers will be Brad Maiers, Jeff Glenn, Kevin Glenn, Rev. Donald Beaty, Carroll Beaty, and Joe Maier. Memorials may be made to Oxford Orphanage/ Masonic Home for Children, 600 College St., Oxford, N.C. 27565, or to First Presbyterian Church, 1621 Garrison Blvd., Gastonia, N.C. 28054.
