Marshel's Wright- Donaldson Home for Funerals, Beaufort, is in charge. (The Beaufort Gazette, June 22, 2001) Willie Edward Allen HILTON HEAD ISLAND - Willie Edward Allen, 70, of Hilton Head Island, died Thursday, June 21, 2001, at his residence. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Berry Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Georgetown, Ga. Mr. Allen was born March 3, 1931, in Georgetown, a son of Carrie Allen and Prestine Byrd. He was a member of Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 357. He was preceded in death by a son, Dr. James Allen. Surviving are his wife, Mattie H. Allen of Hilton Head; three daughters , Carolyn Allen of Newark, N.J., Valarie Allen-Green and Carrie Allen of Hilton Head; two sons, Willie Allen of Richmond Hill, Ga., and Prestine Allen of Westfield, N.J.; two sisters, Minnie Cason of Fort Meyers, Fla., and Lillie Lewis of Eufaula, Ala.; two brothers, Lawrence Rivers Jr. and Bernard Rivers of Irvington, N.J.; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Marshel's Wright-Donaldson Home for Funerals, Beaufort, is in charge of local arrangements. Lewis Mortuary of Fort Gaines, Ga., is in charge of arrangements in Georgia.
