She was born in New York, N.Y., to the late Albert and Matilda Birmingham. Mrs. Arnold was predeceased by her husband, Garnet J. Arnold. She was a retired buyer in women's apparel for Belk Department Store. Mrs. Arnold was previously employed by Robert's and Macy's in New York. She was a Catholic. She is survived by one son Ralph D. Arnold of Columbia, S.C., and four daughters Laura A. Threatt of Ladson, S.C., Kathleen Arnold of Owens, Mo., Susan M. Jones of Charleston, S.C., and Patricia A. Thigpen of Summerville, S.C., eight grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Funeral service will be at graveside on Thursday, June 7, 2001, at 1 p.m., in Carolina Memorial Gardens.
