David Levister officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Yongue, 82, died Thursday, May 31, 2001 at Chester County Hospital. Born March 3, 1919, in Chester County, he was the son of the late Brooks Neal and Essie Varnadore Yongue. A graduate of Chester High School, he was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in World War II, and was retired from Shugart Manufacturing Co. Survivors include a brother, Jessie Thomas “Tom” Yongue of Chester; a sister, Mrs. Jack “Essie” Yarborough of Richburg; a daughter, Shirley Tidwell of Chester and a granddaughter, Laurie T. Roof of Chester. Mr. Yongue was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Peak Yongue; a brother, Wallace Yongue and two sisters, Naomi Brooks and Elizabeth McMurray. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Barron Funeral Home.
