Thomas, 75, died Thursday, July 19, 2001, at a local hospital.He was born October 20, 1925, in Colleton County, a son of the late Eugene Wiley and Martha Stella Stanley Thomas . Mr. Thomas was married to the late Virginia B. Thomas.Mr. Thomas was a retired principal, having served 39 years in the education field. He served as principal at Walterboro High and Junior High School, Hendersonville Elementary School, North Myrtle Beach High School and Primary School. He taught his last 14 years at Loris High School and retired in 1990. He attended Furman University and graduated from Siena College in Loudonville, Ky. He was a member of the North Strand Civitan Club, who had 42 years of served, and was District Lt. Governor. Mr. Thomas was a deacon and member of the North Myrtle Beach First Baptist Church, and served in the Navy during World War II. Surviving are, a daughter, Kathleen Franks and husband Roger of Hogansville, Ga.; a son, Scott C. Thomas and wife Linda of Sumter, S.C.; a brother, Carroll E. Thomas of Yemassee, S.C.; seven grandchildren, Wally, Adam, Edith, Jonathon, Jeremy, Caitlin, and Chelsea; three great-grandchildren, Mark, Nathanael and Trace.Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Monday, July 23, 2001, at the First Baptist Church of North Myrtle Beach with Dr. Paul Alverson and Rev. Rusty Mullins officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. in the Live Oak Cemetery in Walterboro, S.C.The family will receive friends Sunday, at MCMILLAN-SMALL FUNERAL HOME from 4 until 6 p.m.Memorials can be made to the First Baptist Church of North Myrtle Beach, 200-Hwy 17 S, North Beach, S.C. 29582.
