Davis Lane, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 19, 2001 from Sweet Hope Baptist Church in Carlisle with the Rev. Joseph Stringfellow officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Strong, 80, died Sunday, July 15, 2001 at Chester County Hospital. Born on Jan. 1, 1921 in Chester County, she was the daughter of the late Jim Davis and the late Sallie Thompson Davis. She was a retired domestic employee, a member of Sweet Hope Baptist Church, a member of the Hymnal Choir and a member of the C.B.&A. Society. She attended Chester County schools. Survivors are two sons and daughters-in-law, Johnny and Novella Davis of Philadelphia and Mack and Stephanie Davis of Chester; two daughters and a son-in-law, Kathleen D. and Willie Mobley and Patsy A. Davis, both of Chester; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Perley and Jonie Davis of Rock Hill and Dennis and Betty Davis of Chester; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Sibbie and Elmore Worthy and Mae Bell Crosby, both of Chester, and Rosalie Melvin of Baltimore; a brother-in-law, J.D. Brice, sisters-in-law, Roberta Davis, Maratha Crory, Thomasina Davis and Lucille Davis; 17 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends in the home of her granddaughter, Lisa Kirkpatrick, 737 Lancaster Road.
