HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTH AREA CHAPEL, 2119 Dorchester Road, North Charleston, S.C., on Monday, July 30, 2001, at 11 o'clock. Interment, Carolina Memorial Gardens. Friends may call Sunday, July 29, at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., North Area Chapel.Mrs. Shorter was born April 19, 1923, in Berkeley County, S.C., a daughter of Newton B. Grooms and Beulah Smith Grooms. She was a member of Wando Woods Baptist Church.She is survived by her husband of North Charleston , S.C.; one son, Joseph A. Shorter, Jr., and daughter-in-law, Sandy Shorter, of Ladson, S.C.; one daughter, Rose M. Short and son-in-law, Don Short of Summerville, S.C.; one brother, Newton B. Grooms of Charleston, S.C.; one sister, Donna Bray of Charleston, S.C.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
