In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice. The family will receive friends immediately following the funeral services at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. Woody Lucas, Jr., 303 East Passage Court, Columbia, S.C. Mr. Shealey died Monday, July 2, 2001, in a Greenville hospital. Mr. Shealey was born on February 17, 1918, in West Columbia, S.C. He was a son of the late Dolin Baxter and Ethel Derrick Shealey. He was a graduate of the Citadel and was a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army during World War II, having received three Bronze Stars. He was retired manager of S.H. Kress and of T.G. & Y. Department Stores and was a retired real estate broker. He was first married to the late Mary Catherine Lucas Shealey. Surviving are his wife, Shirley Pepper Shealey of Greenville; his sons and daughters-in-law, Doug Shealey of Houston, Texas; Sid and Marcia Shealey of Charleston; and Burt and Kathi Shealey of James Island; his sisters, Gertie Kleckley and Juanita Sawyer, both of West Columbia; Rebecca Baines of Lexington; and Thera Clyburn of Columbia; seven grandchildren, Jeff Shealey and Stephen Shealey of Houston, Texas; Jason Shealey and Kevin Shealey of Charleston; Jerad Shealey of Seattle, Ore.; Alissa Shealey of Summerville; and Hannah Shealey of James Island. He was preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie Stoudemire of West Columbia.
