The Rev. Chris Snelgrove officiated. Mr. Schulte, 83, died Thursday, June 28, 2001, at Ebenezer Nursing Center in Rock Hill. Born in Chester on Aug. 19, 1917, he was a son of the late Sumpter Banks Schulte Sr. and the late Maggie Wrenn Schulte. A graduate of Chester High School, he was an Army veteran of World War II and was of the Methodist faith. He was also a member of the Solomon Masonic Lodge in Jacksonville, Fla. Survivors include a son, Thomas Frederick Schulte Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla.; a sister, Virginia S. Cassels of Chester; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lurlie R. “Peggy” Schulte. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Southeast Division, 500 East Morehead Street, Suite 211, Charlotte, N.C. 28202.
