GEORGE, S.C. - George R. Roberts, age 65, of 1423 Highway 15 South, died Saturday at his residence after an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, in the Bryant Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the St. George Memorial Gardens. Mr. Roberts was born April 26, 1936, in Walterboro, S.C., a son of the late Harvey and Lula Lemacks Roberts. He was a retired Deputy Sheriff with Dorchester County, Former Owner of Roberts Texaco, and a front-end mechanic with Colsons Body Shop. He was a graduate of the S.C. Criminal Justice Academy. Surviving are, his wife, Helen Lyons Roberts, St. George; three sons, Terry Lyn Roberts, St. George, George Kem Roberts, Orangeburg, Craig Riddick Roberts, Walterboro; a daughter, Darlene R. Weatherford, Cross, S.C.; two sisters, Ruby R. Roberts, St. George, and Betty R. Crosby, Walterboro; four grandchildren, Travis and Holly Weatherford, Cross, and Samantha and Christopher Roberts, Orangeburg. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, at BRYANT FUNERAL HOME.
