Bostick Funeral Home, Ridgeland, is in charge. Garfield Rivers Garfield "Big Boy" Rivers, 84, of Pineland, husband of Beatrice F. Rivers, died Monday, July 2, 2001, in Hampton Regional Hospital, Varnville. The family will receive friends from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Friday in Bostick Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Kingdom Hall Jehovah Witness, Hampton, with burial in First Point Savannah Cemetery, Pineland. Mr. Rivers was born December 23, 1916, in Ridgeland, a son of the late Lawrence Rivers and Maggie Green Rivers. A carpenter, he was an Elder with the Ridgeland Congregation and a Minister of the Good News. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Viola R. Heyward of Pineland and Cheryl R. Doctor of Southern Pines; three sisters, Ella Horton of Gillisonville, Virginia Warren and Sarah Oates, both of Pineland; a stepson, Floyd K. Hamilton of Charlotte; a stepdaughter, Janice Hamilton of Yemassee; five stepbrothers, William Terry and Ulmer Terry, both of Early Branch, McKinley Terry of Hampton, Luther Terry of Council, N.C., and Henry Terry of West Palm Beach, Fla. ; two stepsisters, Lelia Thomas and Eva Terry, both of Charleston; and seven grandchildren.
