He graduated from First Baptist High School, the College of Charleston, University of South Carolina Law School and Georgetown University Law School. He was active in various civic organizations and a member of Community Bible Church. He is survived by his wife Eleanor C. Rice of Beaufort, his mother of Mt. Pleasant, his father of Beaufort, his grandmother Maybelle J. Beach of Charleston, a sister, Melissa R. Wicker of the Isle of Palms, three daughters, Parham M. Cain of Knoxville, Tenn., Eleanor C. Stutler of Kingstree, S.C., and Susalee C. Spruill of Jacksonville, Fla., and four grandchildren.
