Edward Carew Rice, III, 51, husband of Eleanor C. Rice, an attorney in 
Beaufort, and formerly of Charleston, died Saturday, July 21, 2001, in 
Bamberg, S.C. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Carew 
Rice, III, are invited to attend the funeral services for the former 
at 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at Trinity Episcopal Church, Hwy.
174, Edisto Island. Burial will be in the churchyard cemetery.

RICE, III, E. Carew
Edward Carew (Cary) Rice, III, 51, husband of Eleanor C. Rice, an 
attorney in Beaufort, and formerly of Charleston, died Saturday, July 
21, 2001, in Bamberg, S.C. Mr. Rice was born in Charleston, S.C., on 
Tuesday, September 6, 1949, the son of E. Carew Rice, Jr., and Beverly 
Beach Rice. He graduated from First Baptist High School, the College 
of Charleston, University of South Carolina Law School and Georgetown 
University Law School. He was active in various civic organizations 
and a member of Community Bible Church. He is survived by his wife 
Eleanor C. Rice of Beaufort, his mother of Mt. Pleasant, his father of 
Beaufort, his grandmother Maybelle J. Beach of Charleston, a sister, 
Melissa R. Wicker of the Isle of Palms, three daughters, Parham M. 
Cain of Knoxville, Tenn., Eleanor C. Stutler of Kingstree, S.C., and 
Susalee C. Spruill of Jacksonville, Fla., and four grandchildren. The 
relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Carew Rice, III, are 
invited to attend the funeral services for the former at 3:30 p.m.,

E. Carew Rice III
E. Carew "Cary" Rice, 51, of Beaufort, husband of Eleanor C. Rice, 
died Saturday, July 21, 2001, in a plane crash in Bamberg. Services 
will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Episcopal Church, Edisto 
Island, with burial in the churchyard. Mr. Rice was born Sept. 6, 
1949, in Charleston, a son of E. Carew Rice Jr. and Beverly Beach 
Rice. He graduated from First Baptist High School, the College of 
Charleston, the University of South Carolina School of Law and 
Georgetown University Law School. He practiced law in Beaufort. He was 
a member of various civic organizations and a member of Community 
Bible Church. Surviving are his wife of Beaufort; three daughters, 
Parham M. Cain of Knoxville, Tenn., Eleanor C. Stutler of Kingstree 
and Susalee C. Spruill of Jacksonville, Fla.; his mother of Mt. 
Pleasant; his father of Beaufort; a sister, Melissa R. Wicker of the 
Isle of Palms; his maternal grandmother, Maybelle J. Beach of 
Charleston; and four grandchildren. The family suggests that those
