Burial will be in New Jersey. Mr. Lewis, 56, died Saturday, May 26, 2001, at his home. Born in Chester County, he was a son of the late Derry Rambert and the late Willie Mae Rambert. He attended Finley High School and was a member of St. John Methodist Church, where he was a deacon. He was a construction worker and the owner/operator of Jessie High Hat Club in Elizabeth. Surviving are his wife, Queenie Rambert; seven sons, Christopher Rambert, Michael Rambert, both of the home, Jessie L. Rambert Jr., Drayton Rambert, both of Elizabeth, Kelvin Rambert of Charlotte, Jessie “Peter” Rambert and Corey Minter, both of Chester; five daughters, Tawanda “Peaches” Davis of Rock Hill, LaJoyce Rambert, Theresa Edmond, LaJetta Rambert and Katina Claxton, all of Elizabeth; four brothers, Derry Rambert and his wife, Gracie, of Jamaica, N.Y., Alex Rambert of Chester, Pa., Leroy Rambert and David Rambert, all of Chester; five sisters, Viola Washington, Lorenda Rambert, Alvenia Kennedy, Anna Gladney and her husband, Ernest, all of Chester, and Dorothy Jennings of Rock Hill; and 19 grandchildren. The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Hicks Funeral Home, 655 Court St., Elizabeth.
