Wells Quin, 38, of 36 Pond Ave., Newport, died July 1, 2001, in her home. Born in Providence, R.I., on January 19, 1963, she was the daughter of the late Guy J. Wells and Beverly (Jansen) Nevitt of Warwick, R.I. Ms. Quin, an accomplished chef, worked for many years in the yacht charter business and held her captain's license since 1986. For the past ten years she was the co-owner and operator of the motor yacht Pearl Necklace with her husband Brian. Ms. Quin was also a dog trainer in the Schutzhund technique and a founding member of the Low Country Schutzhung club in South Carolina. She is survived by her husband, Brian P. Quin of Newport, R.I., and two nieces , Rachel and Sophia Wells. Her funeral will be held Friday, July 6, at 10 a.m., in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Burial will be in Island Cemetery in Newport. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Potter League for Animals, P.O. Box 412, Newport, R.I. 02840.
