TITLE: Eloise Purvis SOURCE: The Post and Courier, July 30, 2001 SUBMITTED BY: The Post and Courier FORMATTED BY: Kim Grissom, July 2001 *********************************************************************************************** PURVIS, Eloise Funeral services for Mrs. Eloise (Hannay) Purvis will be held on Tuesday, July 31, 2001, at 2 p.m., at GEORGE FUNERAL HOME, HISTORIC DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, 211 Park Ave. SW, Aiken, with Rev. Dr. W.C. Lowe officiating. Pallbearers will be James Morrison, Mike Satcher, Sam Kirkendahl, Sid Kirkendahl, Brett Satcher and Henry Sharpe, Jr. Interment will follow in Graniteville Cemetery. Donations, in her memory, may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2711 Middleburg Dr., Columbia, S.C. 29204. Visitation will be on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Purvis, 85, of Graniteville, died Saturday at her residence. The daughter of the late John W. and Deesie (Cluberson) Hannay, she was born in High Shoals , Ga., and had lived in Augusta, Ga., before moving to Graniteville 51 years ago. She retired in 1987 as a clerk in the Aiken County RMC Office and had served in the U.S. Army as a WAC during W.W.II. She was a member of St. John's UMC, Graniteville, and was an avid painter and artist. Besides her parents, she is pre-deceased by her husband Antonio J. Purvis who died in 1982. She is survived by a daughter, Toni Ann Satcher, Edisto Island, S.C.; a brother, John "Buddy" Hannay, Athens, Ga.; a sister, Agnes Jackson, Monroe, Ga.; four grandchildren, Henry "Treye" Sharpe, III, Aiken, Chesley Satcher, Edisto Island, S.C., Corey Satcher, North Augusta, S.C., and Brett Satcher, Graniteville, S.C. Mrs. Purvis is also survived by three great-grandchildren and a beloved friend and neighbor, Mrs. Teat Taylor.
