(The Post and Courier May 31, 2001) Major Campbell E. Proudfit, U.S. Air Force (Ret.), 70, of Summerville, husband of Lucille Lucarelli-Proudfit, died Wednesday morning at his residence. Funeral service will be held Saturday, June 2, 2001, at 2 o'clock in St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Summerville. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call JAMES A. DYAL FUNERAL HOME, SUMMERVILLE, from 6 to 8 o'clock Friday evening. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 215 East Bay Street, Suite 204, Charleston, S.C. 29401. Born on April 3, 1931, in Natchitoches, La., a son of the late George Campbell Proudfit and Olive Ermine Proudfit. He was a graduate of Pikeville Junior College, Pikeville, Ky., the University of Nebraska, Omaha, Nebraska, Trident Technical College, Charleston, S.C. He was a member of the Summerville Masonic Lodge #234, American Legion, Summerville Eastern Star #43 and Trident Technical Alumni Association. He served in the United States Air Force during Vietnam. He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Surviving are, wife, Lucille Lucarelli-Proudfit of Summerville, S.C.; three sons, William G. Proudfit of Hong Kong, China, Curtis C. Proudfit of Summerville, S.C., David A. Proudfit of Stamford, Conn.; daughter, Cheri Y. Matthews of Utica, N.Y.; step-daughter, Donna Wilson of Hartsville, S.C.; four step-sons, David Lucarelli of Moncks Corner, S.C., Jeff Lucarelli of Summerville, S.C., Gino Lucarelli of Goose Creek, S.C., Chris Lucarelli of Summerville, S.C.; sister, Ermine Sue Asher of Devon, England; two grandchildren, one great grandchild; 17 step-grandchildren; two great step-grandchildren.
