Residence, Bonneau, S.C. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. John William Prohaska, Sr., are invited to attend the funeral services of the former in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., GREENRIDGE ROAD CHAPEL, Saturday morning, June 30, 2001, at 11 o'clock. Interment, Live Oak Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at STUHR'S GREENRIDGE ROAD CHAPEL on Friday evening between 5 and 7 o'clock. Mr. Prohaska was born in Carrolton, Ohio, oh January 18, 1929, the son of William Joseph Prohaska and Elizabeth Haskins Prohaska . He graduated from Case Institute of Technology in 1951. He worked as a chemical engineer for B.F. Goodrich in Louisville, Ky., for two years . In 1953 he moved his family to Charleston, S.C., to work with his father at Charleston Rubber Company. He worked his way through management and continued to provide leadership after the Norton acquisition. In 1976, he was appointed Vice President and General Manager of North Hand Protection. In 1982, he was appointed Vice President of Safety Products Division. The company was later purchased by Siebe, plc, in 1983. He was appointed President and Chief Operating Officer of Siebe North, Inc. In 1988, he was appointed President and Chief Operating Officer for the Diversified Products division of Siebe, plc. This division consisted of 52 companies located in 27 countries on five continents. In 1989, he was elected to the board of directors of Siebe, plc. He retired on January 18, 1994, with 40 years of service .Mr. Prohaska was a member of the following professional organizations: Industrial Relations Club, Charleston Manufacturers Club, the Southern Rubber Group of the American Chemical Society, and the Work Glove Manufacturers Association. He served on the board of directors for First National Bank, was on the community board for South Carolina National Bank, and was a board member and chairman of the Berkeley Mental Health Association. Me. Prohaska was a member of St. Johns Episcopal Church - Oakland in Charleston for much of his life. He was a Sunday school teacher and church leader. When he and his wife moved to Bonneau in late 1978, he became a member of the Church of the Holy Family and later the First Baptist Church of Bonneau where he sang in the choir. Surviving are his wife of Bonneau, S.C.; one daughter, Anne P. Burnette of Georgetown, Ky., three sons, John William Prohaska, Jr., of West Chester, Ohio, Mark R. Prohaska of Moncks Corner, S.C., and Paul D. Prohaska of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., one sister, Dorothy Lowell of Goose Creek, S.C.
