GEORGE - Augustus Lincoln Pinckney, 88, more affectionately known as "Gus" died Sunday, June 24, 2001, in Miami, Fla. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, June 30, 2001, at the St. Hark United Methodist Church, St. George, S.C., with Dr. John H. Elliott, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery directed by LING FUNERAL HOME OF ST. GEORGE, (843) 563-3589. Mr. Pinckney was born December 12, 1912, in St. George, S.C., a son of the late Thaddeus and Rebecca Prileau Pinckney. He was the retired owner of the former Pinckney Trucking Co. of Miami, Fla. He was the widower of Mrs. Mildred Julie Mae Harris. He was a dedicated member of the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, Miami, Fla. Prior to moving to Miami, Fla., he was a member of the St. Mark United Methodist Church of St. George, S.C. Surviving are two sons, Franklin Augustus (Judy) Pinckney and Thaddeus Nathaniel (Brenda) Pinckney, all of Miami, Fla., one daughter, Mrs. Anthoniette "Toniette" Laidler of Miami, Fla., one sister, Mrs. Dorothy Brothers of St. George, S.C.; one brother, Judge Cranston (Alice) Pinckney of St. George, S.C. He is also survived by six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the home of the sister, Mrs. Dorothy Brothers of 1351 St. Mark-Bowman Road, St. George, S.C. The remains will be placed in repose at the St. Mark United Methodist Church at 11 a.m., Saturday morning until the funeral hour.
