Pavel, 68, of Santee, died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at a local hospital. Born February 1, 1933, in Chicago, Ill., she was the daughter of Edward and Marion Pawlak. She was a long-time resident of Chicago before moving to Santee three years ago. Mrs. Pavel was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She is survived by her husband, Charles; daughter and son-in-law, Chris and Jerry Hilliard of Goose Creek; son and daughter-in-law, Mick and Dawn Pavel of Plano, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Chris Pawlak of St. Charles, Ill. ; sister Alice Walker of Cortland, N.Y.; and four grandchildren, Joshua Hilliard, Taylor Hilliard, Amanda Pavel and Mitchell Pavel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 2, 2001, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m., at MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 100 S. Goose Creek Blvd. (Hwy. 52), Goose Creek. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, P.O. Box 1110, Summerton, S.C. 29148.
