Ortmann died Thursday, June 28, 2001, at a local nursing home. Miss Ortmann was born in Charleston, S.C., February 16, 1924, to John H. and Ethel Baker Ortmann. She was a graduate of Bishop England High School in 1941 and received her B.A. degree from the College of Charleston in 1945 where she was a member of the Sigma Alpha Honor Society. Miss Ortmann was a teacher at Sacred Heart Catholic School and a Private Tutor. She was historian for Bishop England High School Alumni Association and a member of the Mount Pleasant Archon fraternity of Our Lady of Prompt Succor. She was predeceased by her parents, two sisters and one brother. She is survived by two great nieces, Beth Dun of England and Cindy Elliott of Tega Cay, S.C., and was a beloved friend of the Johnson Family. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 1, 2001, at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, Mount Pleasant Chapel, from 5 to 7 p.m. with a Rosary at 6 p.m. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be at Christ Our King Catholic Church on Monday, July 2, 2001, at 2 p.m Interment will be in Bethany Cemetery.
