Charles L. Noel, Sr., age 74, passed away peacefully after a long 
illness the evening of July 12, 2001, at his son's residence in Willow 
Spring, N.C. He retired from the Navy, having served proudly in World 
War II and Korea. Memorial and burial will be at Arlington National 
Cemetery with military honors.He was born in Thief River Falls, Minn., 
the son of the late Clifford and Inga Noel. He attended Lincoln High 
School. He was a Lutheran. Mr. Noel was a long-time resident of 
Charleston, S.C., with his late wife, Lorraine. He is survived by one 
son, Charles L. Noel, Jr. (Sheila) and two grandchildren (Lisa and 
Zachary), of Willow Spring, N.C. He is also survived by one brother, 
Richard Noel of Roanoke, Texas, four sisters, Norma Heyn and Virginia 
Buringrud of Thief River Falls, Minn., Dorothy Pumela of Mesa, Ariz., 
and Beverlee Bartot of Payson, Ariz., a special niece, Sharon Carlson 
of Warren, Minn., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other
