TITLE: McFarlane Mood III SOURCE: The Post and Courier, July 8, 2001 SUBMITTED BY: The Post and Courier FORMATTED BY: Kim Grissom, July 2001 *********************************************************************************************** MOOD, III, McFarlane Mr. George McFarlane Mood, III, of 506 Palmetto Ave., in Varnville, died Saturday morning at his residence after an extended illness. Mr. Mood was born in Charleston, March 14, 1952, a son of the late George McFarlane Mood, Jr., and Elizabeth Tobin Mood. He was a graduate of the College of Charleston and Emory University in Atlanta with a degree as a physician assistant. He served his surgical residency at Montiefore Hospital in New York and was a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants. He was a member of the Alpha Chapter of Pi-Kappa-Phi Fraternity, the Saint Cecilia Society and the Widows and Orphans Society located in Charleston. He was a member of the St. Michaels Episcopal Church in Charleston. Surviving are, his wife, Barbara Jeanne McMillan Mood of Varnville; one son, George McFarlane Mood IV of Charleston; one brother, John T. McF. Mood of Charlotte; three sisters, Elizabeth M. Seagran of Gold Bar, Washington, Dr. Kathleen McKie of Augusta, and Mary Ellen Broome of Dacula, Ga. There are a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, in the Hampton United Methodist Church in Hampton, with additional services at 3 p.m., Tuesday, in the Saint Michael Episcopal Church in Charleston, with burial following in the Magnolia Cemetery in Charleston, directed by PEEPLES-RHODEN FUNERAL HOME in Hampton. Friends may call at the chapel in Hampton from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, and Tuesday morning until the hour of services. The family suggests that those who wish may send memorials to the College of Charleston Mood Scholarship Fund or the Carolina Chapter of the A.L.S. 6512 Six Forks Road, Suite 602-A, Raleigh, N.C. 27615, (South Carolina Chapter).
