Mixon, 77, of 24298 Augusta Highway, died Wednesday. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, at Maple Cane Baptist Church with Dr. David Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in Meeting House Cemetery, directed by the BRICE W. HERNDON AND SONS FUNERAL HOME. Mr. Mixon was born in Colleton County, a son of the late Wally E. Mixon and Elizabeth Pye Mixon. He was a retired mechanic with Westvaco and was the retired owner of Mixon Stump Grinding Company . For more than 20 years he was a member of the Maple Cane Fire Department, where he was on the Board of Directors. He was a member of Maple Cane Baptist Church and was Vice President of the Hill Swamp Hunting Club. He was the husband of the late Fannie Mae Stokes Mixon. Surviving are, a son, Ricky Mixon of Cottageville, a step-son, Keneth Beebe of New Orleans, La., a step-daughter, Sandra Agius of Ridgeville, two brothers, Arnelle Mixon and Jim Mixon of Columbia, two sisters, Mildred Crosby of Walterboro and Alamena Carroll of Chapin, two granddaughters, five step-grandchildren, and eight great-step-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Thursday, at the BRICE W. HERNDON AND SONS FUNERAL HOME.
