McCollum of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., died Tuesday, July 10, 2001, in a local hospital. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs James "Jim" McCollum are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial of the former, Thursday morning, July 12, 2001, in Stella Maris Catholic Church, at 9 o'clock. Prayers of Final Commendation and Farewell follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 o'clock. There will be a Christian Wake Service at 6 o'clock. Mr. McCollum was born in Beacon, N.Y., the son of the late James Joseph and Veronica Cahill McCollum. He was a member of VFW Post 3137, Isle of Palms, Beacon Pop Warner Football League Coach, member of Dutchess Co. Fast Pitch Softball Hall of Fame, Former, C.Y.O., Basketball Coach. He held a Black Belt in Karate, was a former Cart Man for Snee Farm Country Club and a U.S. Navy Veteran. Surviving are his wife, Nancy Doolittle McCollum of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., three sons, James M. McCollum, Jr., and wife, Ann Marie, all of Beacon, N.Y., three daughters, Terri Robinson and husband, James of Goshen, N.Y., Donna Flannery and husband, James of Rock Tavern, N.Y., and Paula Foss of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., 12 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Charlesotn County EMS, 4045 Bridgeview Drive, North Charleston, S.C. 29405, or Mount Pleasant Fire Department, 100 Ann Edwards Lane, Mt. Pleasant, S.C. 29464.
