DUNBAR FUNERAL HOME, Gervais Street Chapel, is in charge. Mr. McCarley died Wednesday, June 27, 2001. Born in Bennettsville, S.C., he was the son of the late Robert Jackson McCarley, Sr., and Elizabeth Ann Morrison McCarley. An engineering graduate of Clemson College, Class of 1930, he was retired from Exxon Corporation after 38 years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church for 81 years, and was elected Elder Emeritus in 1989. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Mabel Melville McCarley of Laurel Crest; son and daughter-in-law, Robert Jackson McCarley, III, and Kay Hodges McCarley of Georgetown; daughter and son-in-law, Betsy M. and Ralph Archer o Chapin; seven grandchildren; one great granddaughter; and one niece. He was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth McCarley Mills.
