GEORGE - Woodrow "Woodie" McCants, 61, of 300 Reed St., Apt. 8-C, St. George, S.C., died Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at the Medical University of South Carolina Hospital, Charleston, S.C., after an extended illness. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Monday, at the Shady Grove United Methodist Church, Highway 178, St. George, S.C., with Dr. John H. Elliott, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery, directed by LING FUNERAL HOME OF ST. GEORGE.Mr. McCants was born November 12, 1939, in Washington, D.C., a son of the late Woodrow McCants, Sr. He attended the public schools of Dorchester County and was a member of the Shady Grove United Methodist Church. He was a former SCE&G employee. He was the widower of Mrs. Willa Mae Lucus McCants.Surviving are his step-mother, Mrs. Mable Brown McCants of Harleyville, S.C., his daughter, Mrs. Edith Neals Williams of Bowman, S.C., a step-daughter, Mrs. Beverley Neals of Ladson, S.C., one step-son, Norman Neals of Bowman, S.C., two brothers, Joseph Gregory McCants and Christopher McCants, both of Bronx, N.Y.; five sisters, Mrs. Shirley Inabinet, Mrs. Lisa Woodson, Ms. Diane McCants, Ms. Wanda McCants and Ms. Brenda McCants, all of Bronx, N.Y., and three grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., on Sunday evening, at LING FUNERAL HOME IN ST. GEORGE.
