Frank ANDREWS - C. Frank McCants, 75, died Saturday, July 7, 2001, in a Charleston hospital.Mr. McCants was born in Williamsburg County near Andrews on October 10, 1925, a son of the late Curtis Fitzhugh McCants and Trisy Van Taylor McCants. He grew up in Williamsburg County and was a graduate of Williamsburg High School. Mr. McCants served in the Navy during World War II and was awarded two Bronze Stars. He retired from farming in 1982 and was an avid fisherman and hunter.Mr. McCants was a member and former Sunday School Teacher of Spring Gulley Baptist Church. He served his church as a deacon for many years and had been named an honorary deacon. Mr. McCants also served his church in numerous other positions.Surviving are, his wife, Mary Thomson McCants of Andrews; two sons, Curtis F. McCants, Jr., of Andrews and Alan McCants of Ballwin, Mo.; four daughters, Dianne M. Langley and Becky M. Rosintoski, both of Mt. Pleasant, Beverly M. Marks of Andrews, and Susan M. Kuehne of Chesapeake, Va.; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be Monday afternoon, July 9, 2001, at 4 o'clock in Spring Gulley Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Tommy E. Barnhill and the Rev. Hampton I. Perry. Burial will follow in the churchyard under the direction of the Andrews Chapel of MAYER FUNERAL HOME.The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday evening, July 8, 2001.The family suggests memorials to Spring Gulley Baptist Church, c/o Mrs. Ednee Coker, 36 Dusty Circle, Andrews, S.C. 29510.
